Adoption Process
Our adoptable dogs will have full bios posted on our website. Once you fall in love with one of our available pups, click on the “Adoption Application” link to submit your application. Each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Things to Know About Adopting from Scoot to the Stars Rescue:
- Adoptable dogs will be listed on our website.
- All dogs will be spayed/neutered.
- All dogs will be microchipped and have up-to-date shots.
- Equipment specific to each animal, such as wheelchairs, will go home with the dog.
- Our dogs have special needs and may require you to go through a special training to ensure you are capable and knowledgeable in handling their needs. This is training is provided at no-cost through our rescue.
We base our adoption decisions on the best fit, not as first-come, first-served. Please be patient as our adoption process can be slow to ensure we find the right home for our animals.
If you are selected to meet one of our dogs, we will schedule an initial meet and greet with the dog. If all goes well, our next step is a home check to ensure your home is suitable for a pet with special needs. There is no judgement here–we will gladly work with you to get your home ready to bring home a pet. Some examples include covering hard surfaces for traction and installing hardware mounted gates at the top of stairs for our mobility impaired pups.
Upon approval of your home check, we will have you meet with the pup again to go over specific medical needs and care, such as bladder expression and special care specific to the selected animal. Please note that you may still be asked to participate in our training program.
Please do not be discouraged if your application is not chosen. We will do what we can to find the best fit for you.
Once you adopt from Scoot to the Stars Rescue, we will continue to support you and your pup through our free programs.
Our Adoption Fee is $300 per adult dog.
